Signed and presented in a gilt frame. Provenance: Maritime collection, private estate, Oxford, UK. Measurements: 62cm x 41c framed. Frederick William Meyer, was born at 4 Kent Terrace, Marylebone, London in late 1846, only son of John Meyer, independent, and his wife Louisa née Frolich, who married at St George's Square, London on 6 November 1838.
In 1851, 4 year old Frederick was living at 4 Kent Terrace, Marylebone with his parents, 48 year old John and 36 year old Louisa, with three sibling sisters, Louisa Maria 9, Fanny Jane 8 and Augusta 2, and they kept four indoor servants and were at the same address in 1861. In 1891, a 45 year old'artist landscape in oil, sculptor', living at 18 Effie Road, Fulham, the home of 48 year old John Mansfield, lithographic artist & publisher, and his family. In 1911, a 64 year old unmarried artist in oil painting living at 33 Fabian Road, Fulham.
He is said to have worked in Suffolk and did exhibit at the Ipswich Art Society but was not a member. He died at Fulham in early 1919, aged 72.
